Content

Russell writes from Lebanon, Kentucky to an unidentified correspondent, possibly Miss Anna P. Stevenson of Philadelphia. A private in Co. E of the 57th Indiana Infantry, he describes wartime conditions in Lebanon and the aftermath of the recent Union victory at Mill Springs, Ky. He dwells at length on the Union victory at Fort Henry, Tenn. and predicts that Confederate forces at Bowling Green will soon be driven from the state.
