Letters written to his wife while the serving in the 18th Michigan Volunteer Infantry in northern Kentucky. Letter of 28 Dec. 1862 tells of hunting for John Hunt Morgan in Nicholasville and the letter of 29 Dec. 1862 describes the city of Louisville as seen from a gun battery on the southwest side of the city.
