In his 3 February 1862 letter, Fisher tells his mother back in Ohio of the miserable camp conditions caused by the wet weather; he also informs her that while his regiment is fairly healthy, sickness is rampant in camp taking seven lives in the past two days he had also heard of minor skirmishes in the Green River area.
