A small book given to Johnston by her husband. She used it to write recipes and collect articles containing recipes and cures for diseases. The recipes tend to be desserts such as cakes and preserves but there are some recipes for soups and meats. The newspaper articles tend to be for prevention of diseases such as cholera and diphtheria.
