This collection comprises an album documenting a 1977 celebratory roast in honor of Mrs. Shirley R. Greenfield. The event was also a fundraiser for the hosting organization: the Louisville chapter of Hadassah--The Women's Zionist Organization of America. Shirley Greenfield was born Sophia Resnikoff in New York and in 1924 married Julien Greenfield. The couple relocated to Louisville in the 1930s and here raised their two daughters Carol Behr and Judy Marks. The Greenfields ran a clothing and sundries store called The Joy Shop located at 554 S. 4th and later 212 S. 4th St. Shirley was an active member in Hadassah, serving two terms as president of the chapter. Included are speeches, letters of congratulation from friends, Joy Shop employees, and members of the Louisville Jewish community, newspaper clippings, and a collection of blank greeting cards produced by Hadassah and the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland.
