The Filson Historical Society names Brian Schaefer as Chief Financial Officer

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Filson Historical Society is thrilled to welcome Brian Schaefer as Chief Financial Officer of the institution. Schaefer brings more than 16 years of accounting experience, including three years in nonprofit finance. Most recently, he served as Director of Finance at the Leadership Louisville Center, where he was responsible for budgeting, forecasting, audits, and financial reporting in support of the organization’s programs and long-term sustainability. 

“I’m excited to be joining the Filson team at this pivotal moment in our community for arts and cultural institutions. The Filson fulfills my passion for lifelong learning and combines well with my years of professional financial management skills that I’m ready to put to use for the growth and preservation of this important mission,” said Schaefer.

A native Kentuckian, Schaefer was born in Louisville before spending time in western Kentucky and California. He returned to Louisville in 2017 to start his family. Schaefer previously served at the Leadership Louisville Center.
