Biographical Note
The Bibb family of Kentucky was a prominent family in the legal profession. The collection includes the papers of Richard Bibb, Sr. (1752-1839), Richard Bibb, Jr. (1780-1839), and John Bigger Bibb (1789-1884), lawyers, merchants, and public officials of Logan and Franklin counties, Ky.
Scope and Content Note
Papers of the Bibb family, primarily of Richard Bibb, Sr., Richard Bibb, Jr., and John Bigger Bibb. Included is correspondence, deeds, account books, bills and receipts, slave records, wills, and genealogical information. The bulk of the collection concerns the purchase and sale of land. Also included are papers of Ky. surveyors and land speculators, John, George, and William May.
