Exhibit Opening – Behind the Curtain: 75 Years of Louisville Ballet

From the grandeur of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker to adaptive dance programs and free community performances, Louisville Ballet has been sharing the joy of dance since 1952. The Filson’s new exhibit Behind the Curtain: 75 Years of Louisville Ballet will break down a ballet production from concept to curtain call. Through costumes, set models, historical photographs, and more, you’ll learn about the masterful artists who have been bringing ballet to life in Louisville for decades. Come explore how Louisville Ballet has grown and changed over the past 75 years and how it will continue to impact arts and culture for many years to come.  

 Behind the Curtain: 75 Years of Louisville Ballet opens in the Bingham Gallery on Friday, September 18, 2026, with a public opening reception from 4:30-7:00 pm.
