This collection documents the military, political and personal life of Gen. Simon B. Buckner as well as the Buckner, Kingsbury and Claiborne families. The business papers of Buckner's father, Aylett H. Buckner, contain of list of men employed at his Muhlenberg County iron furnace in January 1838. The names, occupations and residences of the 50 employees are provided. The men are residents of the counties of Muhlenberg, Butler, Logan, Todd and Hopkins counties. Included are the names of 11 African-American laborers from Muhlenberg County.
