The Filson offers a variety of educational programming, tours, and publications. Opportunities include:
- The Filson hosts more than 70 educational and engaging programs each year. These programs include events such as the Gertrude Polk Brown lecture series, which regularly includes authors currently on national bestseller lists; the Notable Louisville Neighborhoods series; a variety of concerts featuring regional artists; and authors, journalists, and historians discussing the history of the Ohio River valley. - Schools can visit the Filson for tours of the historic Ferguson mansion and exhibit galleries and take advantage of the library and collections for research purposes. Reservations are required. For more information, please email Scott Scarboro.
If you are a teacher who would like to bring a class to one of our lectures at no charge, please contact Jamie Evans.
- The Filson is offering the David Armstrong History Fellows program, which will provide up to 100 free Filson Historical Society family memberships to area high school and college students. For more information on this award, visit the David Armstrong History Fellows page.
In keeping with our commitment for scholarship and education, and thanks in part to the Bullitt Family Trust and Boehl Trust, the Filson offers several fellowship and internship programs, as well as conferences and tours to historical sites. Under the Bullitt Family Trust, the Filson organizes an academic conference every two years.
