Kentucky State Fair, 2012

It's week two of the Kentucky State Fair here in Louisville, Kentucky - be sure to stop by the educational exhibits, which The Filson contributes to on a yearly basis!

This year, the Civil War +150 exhibit returns, along with a new exhibit, War Hawks & Valiant Volunteers: Kentuckians in the War of 1812.  2012 marks the start of the national bicentennial of the War of 1812, and Kentucky played an extremely significant role in this story of conflict, often called America’s “Second War of Independence.” The museum-quality exhibition explores the causes and consequences of the war, the major battles, and the leaders and citizen soldiers who inspired song and legend.
