 The Venue and The Sport

Only 20 minutes from downtown Louisville, Jefferson Gun Club features a scenic 17 station sporting clays course in a walkable wooded setting.  The Jefferson Gun Club promotes shotgunning sports, one of the fastest growing outdoor sports in the country, enjoyed by young and old, men and women, amateurs and experts.

Sporting clays is a form of clay pigeon shooting. Described as "golf with a shotgun," the sport involves shooting clay targets while positioned at multiple stations. No prior clay shooting experience is required. Sporting clay targets are thrown in a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations and distances. The shots are intended to simulate hunting for quail, grouse, pheasant, pigeon, or other game. Each station at the Distillers’ Sporting Clay Classic will present its own unique challenges and opportunities for fun competition.
